Apennine Sibyl, Lake of Pilate, Sibillini Mountain Range and the origin of the myth: Michele Sanvico interviewed by "Leggende Metropolitane"
Two conversations with Italian writer Michele Sanvico on the legendary heritage of the Apennine Sibyl and the Lake of Pilate, and on the lineage and origin of the myths which inhabit the peaks of the Sibillini Mountain Range are now available on the website Leggendemetropolitane.net: the two interviews are "La Grotta della Sibilla - Un'inchiesta" and "I Laghi di Pilato - Un'inchiesta". From the romance "Guerrino the Wretch" and Antoine de la Sale to the legendary tale of Tannhäuser and the medieval lore on Pontius Pilate, the two interviews retrace these fascinating myths across the chivalric works of the Middle Ages, in which many literary references to the sorceress and necromancer Sebile, a companion and alternative identity of Morgana, can be retrieved; in addition, many instances of the enchanted "test bridge", which is mentioned by de la Sale as well, are found in earlier literature: an element that is present in various narratives concerning journeys to the Otherworld dating to the early Middle Ages, including the texts on St. Patrick's Purgatory in Ireland.
